Wing tip lens cut in half and trimming of the wing tip done

I think I am done with the wing tip trimming and I have cut the lens into the two halves and attached them on the wing tips for measurement.

8/23/16

Fiberglass, competing with proseal as being terrible

The reason it looses has more to do with the time than how it is to work with. I was stupid and cut the wing tips with the vibrating saw, wearing a short sleeve shirt. Now it itches even after taking a shower :(

8/16/16

Done for now with chapter 23, Aileron actuation

Started with torquing a lot of nuts, then I performed the two actions needed to make all neutral position correct on both wings.

First one does the "Forward torque tube assembly", It was almost correct from start, on the left wing I needed to turn the rod end bearing half a turn and on the right wing it was perfect without any adjustments.

Then it was time to make sure that the actual ailerons were in a neutral position when the actuation system is so. That took 2.5 turns (one and 1.5 turns on respective sides of the "bellcrank to Aileron pushrod") For the right wing I had to make 4,5 turns in total.

As I will probably remove the rods (being careful not to let any rod end bearings turn) for riveting the bottom skins on, I have not torqued all nuts.

8/15/16

More aileron actuation

Adjusting with washers to align the torque tube assembly. This was a fun session, some tinkering and a pleasant amount of brain workout for an evening tired mind.

8/13/16

Continuing on chapter 20, aileron actuation

Final torqued some bolts/nuts, difficult to get any interesting pictures of tonight's work.

8/12/16

Section 19 done

Chapter 19, wing system routing was almost completed long ago.

After installing the tanks, I went thru the manual and found that chapter 19 was not marked as completed. I quickly found that what was left to do was to connect the fuel senders to the wire harness.

8/8/16

Tanks fully attached

Forgot the memory card in the garage but finally chapter 18 is done!

8/6/16

Tanks almost attached

I have done some sessions during the last days but it has just been cleaning out threads and screwing in screws and bolts. Thank god for electrical screwdrivers.

Later I will finish of using the correct moment/torque for the bolts

8/2/16

Mounting the tanks, not a 5 minute job

I will need to clean out some primer from the nutplate treads

7/30/16

Success, both tanks leak free!

Small leaks thru the drains but otherwise perfect!

7/29/16

7/23/16

Tank attachment countersunk

Got some time for myself before lunch so I did the countersinking.

7/22/16

Tanks are sealed and almost done

Not 100% on what countersink size I should use for the attachment so that small task is still left to do. The next session will be that and leak testing!

7/18/16

Back plate on right wing in place

I will put up a movie of the session later, when my PC is done processing it. (5sec time lapse of almost 2.5 hours, condensed into I think 11 minutes so just for the really interested)

7/13/16

Last prepping before closing up the right tank

Did some last checks and cleaning on the right tank. The next session will be closing up the right tank.

7/8/16

Back plate on the left tank is in place.

2.6 hours of terror, this was the worst work session so far in the build. Working under time pressure and finding out things like you have the wrong size installed in your pull rivet tool, some holes are too tight so you have to redrill them with proseal in them....

7/6/16

Some last touch up

Did one last session of improving the sealing. Now I just need to roughen up the areas that will seal on the backplates and I will be ready for putting them together.

7/3/16

Leak test with water successful!

did the preliminary leak test, last possibility to fix leaks before putting the back plates on. The tanks held water without problem.

7/1/16

Fuel vents done

Fuel vents are now set for good and sealed with proseal. Since I have to use water to clear out dirt in the tanks I will do a water leak test before placing the back plate. Now I will just wait a few days for the last proseal to cure.

6/29/16

Working from home -> Productive lunch break

Riveted the nut plates during my lunch break :D

6/28/16

Getting close

Cleaned the insides from stray proseal, attached the fuel vents drain on both tanks with loctite, The outer nuts are not permanently set yet but that's for the next session. Countersunk for ooops rivets in preparation for the nutplates on the edges to avoid an unnecessary dimpling task.

6/20/16

Slow but steady

Been doing small tasks almost every evening now. Today I attached the fuel senders. The plan is to close up the remaining holes by the weekend, then I will let it cure for a while before testing with water.

6/13/16

Adding more sealant

Applied more sealant and realized that I need one more session like this and one fitting the fuel level senders before I can do the two sessions were I actually close up the tanks.

6/5/16

Tiny items

Put the bushings for the tank went line in place again, and did some more trial flaring. Also deburred the real lines, now I just need to buy some fuel proof thread sealant and I´ll be ready to start closing the tanks up.

I will probably do one more session, adding proseal on potential leaks so I also need to buy some more proseal.

6/2/16

flaring

Not much posted lately, what has been done is that I have played and practiced doing some flaring on some scrap in preparation for installing the breathing line in the tanks.

I will be so happy once the tanks are done, they have really crushed my motivation and persistence. At least I can se the end of this work now.

5/23/16

3.4 hour of proseal work

To tired to care about pictures tonight. All end ribs are in place.

5/15/16

Another proseal session

Top stiffener, fuel cap, drain and lover inner rib. All on both tanks. Some rivets could be done with the squeezer :)

5/9/16

Amazing weather, lots of flying and no building

For good reasons I have had a break in my build. For instance: I have flown four days in a row, that is not common :D
