New panel center section

The plan for yesterday was to get the noice certification tests done but the weather did not cooperate.

I then decided to install the new center section of the panel so I would no longer have to fly with the GMC 507 autopilot controller in my lap.
I managed to flip the flap switch upside down so I will have to correct that at the next session.

A squak/to-do list to make me remember:
- Flip the flap switch
- Wrap the center panel
- Label the center panel
- Fix the co-pilot trim down switch
- Connect the canopy fans
- Connect the canopy warning switch
- Install the Pitot heat switch
- Clean up the wiring behind the panel
- Provide a USB connector at, at least one external camera postions
- Install the new tail wheel axle
- Install te new tail wheel staring link
- Install the new access doors/covers

Wingtip ribs riveted, flaps reattached....

Wingtip ribs riveted, flaps reattached, Aileron actuation nuts torqued. To do on the wings are to attach the lightning wires to the molex connectors and then it is just about done. I will do the final trimming of the wing tips at a later date, maybe even after first flight.

11/19/15

Flaps on the wings

I decided that I needed the space so they have to get up there. Then I could not stop myself from bringing out a wingtip to get a view of the total look. I will continue with the aileron actuation chapter before starting to prep the fuel tank parts.

Flaps and aileron done for now

There are a few more things to do but it is recommended to wait with them until the parts are painted So for now they are done. Spent some time tonight putting the flaps on a shelve and cleaning up the shop.

11/14/15

Wasting time

Some final installations on the flaps and lots of time looking for sockets and correct bolts, spacers...

11/12/15

Aileron trailin edges done and both flaps te:s glued

Something warmer to sit on

All presqueezed about ten rivets apart

before squeezing

semi squeezed

Turned the dies in the elevator edge special tool the other way and the angle was good

final squeezed

second flap prepared for riveting the trailing edge

11/11/15

Almost time for riveting all trailing edges

Thru the baby monitor I could here my youngest starting to make noises... otherwise I would have glued the remaining flap tonight as well. Tomorrow I will probably start riveting the aileron trailing edges.

The last batch of non trailing edge rivets on the flaps

Did the last blind rivets in the flaps

Did the last blind rivets in the flaps, I think one of my camera batteries have given up, it only lasts one session, no pictures from tonight.

11/8/15

Just a few more rivets and the ailerons and flaps will be ready for riveting the trailing edge.

3.2 hours of work today. The camera battery died after a while so only a short movie and some phone pictures showing my way of solving the need for an extended #34 drill bit and the wedge I used to be able to blind rivet close to the flap hinges.

Right flap bottom skin on, started on the pitot mount

Nothing new to show on that topic, exactly the same procedure as last nights riveting on the left one. Then I spent some time making an angle from a small aluminium sheet and to reposition the wings so that the left one that shall get the pitot mast is facing the open room.

9/20/15

Started attaching the bottom skin on one flap

After verifying that I had no twist, I removed the protecting sheet

I tried to find a way to use the special elevator bucking bar but could not make it work

The first rivet in the bottom skin, I can not imagine doing this without a tungsten bar

doing every 10th rivet as mentioned in the plan to prevent twisting

marking the ones done

after doing every secind, I did the last 50% bay by bay from the center and out

finishing with the spar rivets

And using the squeezer for the outmost two

"only" pop-rivets and the trailing edge to do on this flap

9/19/15

Flaps top skins done

Well, except for the trailing edge of course.

One had to be drilled out, I pushed to hard on the bucking bar so the rivet was not fully in when it started to expand

Great back riveting results tonight
