Chapter 39, seat backs done!

After the fun and challenging but HUGE chapter 38 (106 hours and propably 1 more to go) it was great to have a really simple chapter following. I have spent 8.9 hours on this chapter)
I could not resist padding the seats and take place. You can se the start of a smile in my face :D

The ergonomics will be great! I can reach all but the last 10cm (4 inch) of the opposite side of the panel without even leaning forward. It also looks like I will be able to push the rudders fully in this position. (I am not the typical viking, only reaching 5´7¨ 171cm)

38&39-2

Lots done on the seat backs during the last two nights. They are basically done now. Then I did the last parts of chapter 38 that I will do for now. The last steps should only be completed after final installment of the canopy. I will want to be able to remove it during avionics installation so I will hold off on these for now.

Solved the canopy closing problem.

While the forward canopy seal might have contributed some to the problem, the C-1453 guide pins were found to be the problem. I followed the instructions exactly and still the pins interfered with the guide plate at the forward end. By grinding of less than 1/16 inch (about 1mm) from the guide plate hole at the forward end, the canopy could be closed without binding.

Then I continued with preparing parts for the seat backs.
I also found a seal replacement at a local hardware store. Most probably it is from the same manufacturer as Vans uses, It looks and feels the same.

38, 39, 35 Seat backs Seals and proseal

Trimmed and deburred seat back parts. Trimmed and match drilled some piano hinges. Got my wife to help me remove and then place nack the canopy so I could mount the forward canopy seal. And as a final task, I finished chapter 35 by putting proseal between the front upper skin and the fire wall to close the final small openings.
